You are very welcome to study at Samford University!

The students who attend Samford University recognize that it is not like any other universities. At Samford, there is a uniqueness here, an obvious distinction that sets it apart from other colleges and universities, large or small, residential or commuter, public or private. What is that certain distinction that causes students to apply in record numbers, to love the years they spend here and to hold dear their Alma Mater?

That distinction has many elements, but central is Samford’s dedication to rigorous academic inquiry in a Christian setting. Samford University seeks to nurture students to think and act in ways that reflect the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, to impact not only their college years, but the rest of their lives.

Founded in 1841, Samford University is the largest independently supported university in Alabama. Samford's serene suburban campus, with its rolling hills and stately Georgian Colonial architecture, provides the ideal college environment. Samford is only minutes away from downtown Birmingham, a diverse metropolitan area of 1 million people--a city rich in culture, history and spirit. Most importantly, Samford offers an outstanding education in 26 degree programs and 102 majors in eight schools.
