More about Preparatory StudiesPreparatory studies let you fulfill your ambitions, even if you were perhaps unsure of what they were when you were 15. Most programs offer the choice to gain qualifications within any of the basic subjects included in a high school education. Such subjects include English, biology, chemistry, mathematics and introductory computer applications to name a few. After the necessary courses are completed, you will be eligible to apply for the further education or employment you wish.
Specialised ProgramsSome schools offer more specialized programs, preparing for further study in for example music. Another common reason to seek preparatory knowledge, is if you are looking to study abroad, but do not have the relevant language skills for acceptance. A preparatory course can help you improve your comprehension and communication abilities enough to pass the language tests commonly required for acceptance to foreign education.
Another possibility offered by preparatory study courses is to become eligible for post graduate courses unrelated to your first degree. Certain Master’s courses such as MBA courses or Medical school set requirements of previous knowledge for acceptance. Such knowledge can at some schools be acquired at a quicker rate through a preparatory course.
Studying Preparatory CoursesOptions for preparatory study are offered at most universities. If you know what course or job you want to become equipped for, you can generally find a course to fit your description. If your language skills are already up to speed, completing your qualifications abroad should not be a problem.
Most preparatory courses are open to anyone, whether they hold a high school diploma or not. It is often encouraged to take responsibility for researching what qualifications are required to continue on the path that you are aiming for. Courses are available on a full or part time basis, and can that way be combined with parallel employment or family engagements.
