Oriental Institute of Technology (OIT) traces its roots back to 1968, when the Oriental Academy of Industrial Technology was established. It is recognized as the nation’s first private two-year academy. In 1973 the academy was renamed the Oriental Academy of Industry comprised four departments – Textile, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer.
It has been more than 30 years since the school was first founded. The successive principals inherit the spirits of the school founder and spare no effort to manage the great task by means of the excellent school motto “Sincerity, Diligence, Thrift, and Prudence”.
OIT also adheres to the principle of “Creativity, Consideration, Communication and Cooperation” in anticipation of transforming the school into an Industrial application school that integrates both technology and culture, innovation and quality, profession and common knowledge, theory and practice as well as a superb institute that is systematically, diversely, knowledgeably, and scientifically developed.

The university expects students to study hard during the time at
OIT, but opportunities for relaxation and for developing personal skills are important too. The Office of Student Activities acts as a hub of campus activities, providing cultural, social and recreational opportunities to supplement and complement education in the classroom.
Through participating in extra curriculum activities, students are expected to:

3. Explore and fulfill dreams and interests.
The office of student activities supervises and coordinates a wide range of student associations, clubs and extra curriculum activities which are divided into eight affiliations, including Administration, Social Service, Sports, Student Council, Recreation, Academic Union, Information Service, and Propaganda. The activities center will soon be renovated to provide better and larger space for clubs and organizations.
